Belongs to the ditypic genus: C. mahafalensis and C. vohemarensis; Subfamily: Cedreloideae.
Tree up to 20 m high, 0.50-0.60 m in diameter, platanoid bark. Leaves decussate, paripinnate, with 2-6 leaflets; coriaceous leaflets. Inflorescences: panicle of cymes often 4 times dichotomized, elongated. Oblong-pear-shaped fruits, 4-locular, 2-8 seeds. Wingless seeds.
