Belongs to the monotypic genus; Subfamily: Ixoroideae; Tribe: Mussaendeae. 4-5 m tall shrub.

Leaves opposite, simple, deciduous, membranous. Bifid interpetiolar stipules. Inflorescences terminal, cymose. Fruit: capsule; seeds numerous, irregular, not winged.

Phylogenetically, Landiopsis forms a robust clade with the Bremeria of Madagascar (Alejandro & al., 2005).
