Belongs to the ditypic genus: R. humbertii and R. phillipsonii; Tribe:Rhynchophoreae.
Woody, slender vine. Leaves opposite, simple. Inflorescence in panicle; staminate or morphologically bisexual flowers. Fruit with 3 or 4 carpels, dry, indehiscent, samaroid, consisting of a cylindrical walnut with wings at its apex, one wing per carpel; seeds deeply furrowed between carpels, elliptical or obovate wings, serous on both sides.

This species differs from R. humbertii in the position of the wings on the fruit.
