Belongs to the monotypic genus; Subfamily: Celastroideae.
Small, twisted tree, 3 to 5 m high, glabrous. Leaves opposite, simple, leathery. Inflorescences in panicles, 10-20 flowers. Flowers hermaphroditic. Fruits drupe-like, globose. Seeds oblanceolate, without arils. Salvadoropsis differs from the genus Salvadora in the venation of the leaves and the conformation of the flowers and fruits. Phylogenetically, it forms a robust clade with the genera Pleurostylia, Hartogiopsis and Macrynodrys (Bacon & al., 2016). The infusion of its leaves is used for the treatment of diarrhoea (Verguin, 1956).
